The Village of Los Ranchos voted Dec. 16 to award its solid‑waste collection and disposal contract (RFP2025‑10‑SSW) to Waste Management of New Mexico LLC.
Staff reported two responses were received and Waste Management scored highest under RFP criteria; trustees approved the award and authorized the mayor to sign the contract. Trustees asked staff to pursue additional services where feasible, including glass collection and potential future composting or waste‑to‑energy options. Staff said the RFP did evaluate cost proposals but specific price impacts to residents will be part of subsequent contract negotiations and public communications.
Trustees were told there is a statutory protest period after contract award; staff said they will comply with procurement rules and follow up with details about service levels and any proposed price changes.
