Irene Bamante Adams said over the last four program years Workforce Connections invested roughly $22 million in intensive, multi-week programs serving about 3,700 participants who later generated nearly $90 million in annualized wages.
Cruz highlighted employer reimbursements and training programs that totaled millions in recent years, including city-allocated ARPA funds used to reimburse Las Vegas businesses for training costs. She described employer-facing cohorts that provide upskilling dollars and the youth-focused "employing V" youth hub that connected young people to occupational training and on-the-job placements, citing examples of participants who completed electrical technology training and secured jobs with local employers.
The board also hosted a national workforce convening in Las Vegas, drawing over 1,100 attendees and national recognition; local partners and elected officials participated in a high-profile panel. Council members praised the proximity of Workforce Connections at Civic Center and encouraged deeper partnerships with city departments and educational institutions to expand career ladders for public service and medical-sector needs.
What happens next: Workforce Connections will continue employer collaborations, pursue fellows and collocation opportunities with city training centers, and coordinate with city staff on talent pipelines for major economic initiatives.
