Santa Barbara LAFCO voted to set a May 7 hearing to consider resolutions reaffirming current spheres of influence (SOIs) for eight cities and to proceed with required 21-day noticing and environmental review.
Executive Officer Mr. Prader explained the statutory requirement to update SOIs every five years and summarized staff outreach to the cities of Butellin, Carperia, Guadalupe, Galita, Loke, Santa Barbara, Santa Maria and Solve. He told commissioners that five cities requested reaffirmation of existing SOIs; Santa Barbara asked staff to add a small study area (Sunrise Hill/study area 5); and several cities (including Lampoke, Santa Maria and Galita) are contemplating changes and may submit applications.
