The Village of East Dundee’s trustees approved a resolution accepting design guidelines for the East Dundee Historic District on April 21, 2025.
Staff clarified the guidelines do not amend or extend the district boundaries; the resolution will serve as guidance for design and appearance for the downtown and historic core. Trustees asked whether the guidelines would affect residences in or near the district; staff said most of the district is commercial and only a small number of residences appear within the mapped boundary. Trustees said the guidance is advisory and intended to help future redevelopment proposals align with village preferences.
The board approved the resolution by roll call: Trustees Saviano, Kunzie, Mahoney and Britain voted yes.
