Conrad also outlined program‑level highlights: repeat conference honors in girls basketball, expanded entries in dance, multiple state qualifiers in boys swimming, a strong showing in wrestling with several individual qualifiers including a state champion, the boys hockey team's first state tournament appearance this year, and the girls hockey program qualifying for state for a third consecutive season.
The committee heard about participation shifts at the sub‑varsity level. Conrad said schools sometimes need to schedule JV2/JB2 contests on different nights or share players when roster depth is limited and that club sports and rising participation in girls wrestling affect basketball rosters at the freshman level.
Conrad described a pilot student‑athlete‑of‑the‑month program (coach nominations, up to six honorees per month) intended to recognize contributions beyond game statistics, and thanked social workers and maintenance staff who helped broaden access and streamline facility set‑up for events.
On logistics, Conrad said the district will replace a legacy conference site with Bound for registration and ticketing after regional schools made similar moves; he said the district negotiated a lower transaction fee for families, dropping the per‑ticket user fee from $1.00 to $0.90 and implementing a small year‑end rebate from ticket revenue. The district will continue a cashless gates policy.
The committee did not record roll‑call vote totals for the item; committee members approved the meeting agenda and later approved handbook updates and related items by voice vote. The meeting closed after routine scheduling remarks and an adjournment motion.
