The Monroe School District Board of Education announced that the therapy room at the new high school will be named for Joel Moer in recognition of long service to students and families, and it approved a 10‑year, $10,000 sponsorship from Bank First for the family and consumer sciences classroom.
Joe Monroe and other district staff described the therapy room as a dedicated space for occupational and physical therapy and explained the personal significance of naming the room for Joel Moer. Joel accepted thanks from board members and guests; the board and staff took photos to commemorate the naming.
Separately, staff explained Bank First (formerly First National Bank) had committed to a 10‑year sponsorship and indicated the bank plans to provide $10,000 upfront to support equipment and program needs in the family and consumer sciences classroom. District staff and board members thanked Steve Schneider (representing Bank First) and noted the bank has been a longtime supporter of district programs.
Both sponsorship motions were approved by voice vote with one voiced opposition in the room on each vote. Staff said formal sponsorship agreements will be completed and that naming and donor recognition details (plaques, photos) will follow.
