Peoria County board advances 2026 Sustainability and Energy Plan; resolution approved unanimously

Becca highlighted past implementation success including LED lighting retrofits, an Amron incentive award for fixture upgrades and recognition such as an Illinois governor sustainability award. She said a $100,000 Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant awarded in 2024 funded comprehensive building assessments completed in mid‑2025 and that those assessments informed the 2026 plan update.
The 2026 plan includes six focus areas (largely carried forward from earlier plans with some renaming), timelines, metrics and accountable internal departments. Becca said the office is developing a public dashboard that will let users view building‑level historical energy consumption and compare facilities, and that the plan sets specific percent‑reduction or progress metrics where applicable.
A county board member moved to bring the resolution to the floor and Member Blair seconded; the chair later called the vote and announced it was unanimous, approving the resolution. The resolution passed with no recorded amendments; the presenter said the dashboard and other reporting tools will be published online as the plan is implemented.
