Boise Airport centennial plans include timeline exhibit and large mural on rental‑car facility

City staff presented plans for the Boise Airport (BOI) centennial, describing a series of exhibits and public‑art projects intended to mark 100 years of airport history and to create visitor experiences at the terminal.

Savannah, a member of the communications/project team, said archives staff are digitizing photos and oral histories and that the airport will install a vinyl timeline near the upcoming Concourse A groundbreaking so travelers can view the airport’s history. “They’re trying to use BOI and sort of create this community experience that really wows people when they walk in,” she said.

Staff described a postcard series produced with local artists, an online public‑art archive update, and a mural planned for the Consolidated Rental Car Facility (the facility was cited in the presentation as approximately 100,000 square feet). Local artist Chad Otis was named as the concept artist for the mural and adjacent walkway panels; staff said the mural dedication is planned for April 6.

Savannah also said airport communications staff plan additional family‑oriented events on the airfield and noted public‑art and interpretive elements will remain on display until the Concourse A construction progresses. Staff flagged a December 2026 groundbreaking for the new Concourse A and said the centennial activities will lead into that milestone.

Details such as final mural dimensions and some installation dates are still subject to vendor schedules and airport approvals; staff characterized some size figures as approximate and noted fabrication and installation timelines remain under way.
