Residents press Seaside for stop signs and speed survey; staff to review

Residents told the Seaside City Council they are concerned about speeding and dangerous roadway conditions on San Lucas and surrounding streets and asked the city to place stop signs or other traffic calming.
"Drivers drive through those streets in excess of 60 mph," one pastor who identified himself as pastor of Holy Tabernacle Church told the council during public comment, and he urged a speed survey and stop signs at several intersections including Amador, Hamilton, Sonoma and Palm.
After public comment the city manager said staff will review stop‑sign placement and related speed issues and that the assistant public works director had taken notes on the concerns. "Staff will review stop sign placement on San Lucas and the cross streets...and we'll discuss that internally and get back with you," the city manager said.
A separate complaint raised questions about amplified sound at a local venue, Deja Blue. The city attorney told the speaker the city has interpreted the law in that case, has advised the commenter how to report after‑hours disturbances to police, and stated from the city's perspective Deja Blue had been complying with its approved special‑use permit.
Council did not take immediate regulatory action at the meeting but directed staff to review the traffic safety requests and follow up with the residents.
