The City of Boulder Planning Board opened its April 7 meeting with a brief organizational sequence in which Maxwell Lord was sworn in as a planning board member and leadership was reorganized. Outgoing chair called the roll and administered the oath before handing the meeting to newly selected chair Laura Kaplan.
During a nominations period the outgoing chair nominated Laura Kaplan for chair and the board unanimously affirmed her. Kurt nominated Claudia Hanson Thiem for vice chair; that nomination also received unanimous affirmation. The outgoing chair then relinquished the dais and Laura Kaplan immediately assumed the chair role to preside over the meeting.
The swearing in and leadership transition were procedural but notable: the board confirmed its chair and vice chair by unanimous voice or show‑of‑hands vote and then proceeded to the evening’s public hearings.
