Niles Davis, principal of Bay Creek Elementary School, told the Walton County School Board that his school's Junior Beta Club collected 3,500 items for the Walton County Empty Stocking Fund, surpassing the club's 1,500-item goal and marking the highest donation total in the club's history. "The students ... actually collected 3,500 items to go to the Walton County Empty Stocking Fund," Davis said, and noted the effort would assist many families in the community.
Davis introduced the club's officers and thanked sponsors Miss Majewski, Miss Banton and Miss Goodrich for organizing the drive. The board and superintendent noted they would post photos from the recognition on the district website by the end of the week.
School and community leaders described the drive as an example of school-led community engagement; no contentious debate or formal action was associated with the recognition.
