Council and staff speakers reviewed a long list of projects and accomplishments under Hanson’s tenure: facility construction (municipal center, fire stations), infrastructure projects (multiple road widenings, roundabouts, sewer and water upgrades), parks and recreational expansions, the development of an inclusive playground, the municipal aquatic center and partnerships with TriHealth and Mason City Schools, and economic development achievements that helped attract and retain large employers.
The resolution was moved and adopted; the clerk was directed to certify a copy to Hanson and his family, and council invited Hanson and his family forward for a photograph. Hanson accepted the recognition and thanked the council and staff.
The resolution is ceremonial and expresses council’s formal appreciation; it does not create a program or appropriation.
