On a separate, related matter, council authorized the mayor to sign an IMUA (Illinois Municipal Utilities Association) cost‑match commitment letter to support a grant application described by staff as having no additional cost to the city. Staff said the IMUA application would pursue $475,000 in grant funding for pooled emergency equipment and that member fees or reserves would be applied to the city’s match obligations already accumulated in IMUA reserves; the authorization allows the IMUA application process to proceed.
