Cedar Rapids Comm School District board previews two boundary scenarios, seeks community feedback

Kaitlyn said Scenario One prioritized keeping the current high school boundaries intact, while Scenario Two prioritized balancing enrollment across all areas and grade levels. She described a set of guiding criteria the board is using to focus discussions about enrollment and demographics.
"I will be a district parent of CRCSD for the next 11 or 12 years," Kaitlyn said, drawing on her personal stake as she urged community participation. She told attendees the board is thinking 10–15 years ahead but is considering revisiting boundaries every three to five years to account for growth and changing enrollment patterns.
Kaitlyn emphasized that no final decision would be made at the session and that the board will hold additional meetings. She said community input is a critical next step and announced feedback sessions tomorrow from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at all three high schools—Washington, Jackson and Kennedy—and invited families and community members to attend and share input.
The board's next procedural step is to collect community feedback at the sessions and continue discussions at upcoming meetings; Kaitlyn said those meetings will inform any draft the board advances toward a formal proposal.
