Properties committee: lead testing clear, Republic Services trash bid recommended and staff detail attempts to remove abandoned dumpster

Trina Singleton, properties committee chair, said the FMX facilities system logged 89 work orders in February with 61 completed, and that lead and drinking-water testing returned non-detected results in compliance with Pennsylvania standards (Act 39). Building inspections for the Educational Service Center and Delcroftoft Elementary passed.
The committee recommended approval of a three-year trash and recycling contract procured through joint purchasing (DCIU) with Republic Services; year-one cost to the district is $107,814 to be paid from the general fund, and the service agreement would begin July 1. Singleton said contract documentation will be uploaded to the board packet prior to the business meeting.
Facilities director Mr. Taylor described an abandoned dumpster at Academy Park High School whose original vendor appears defunct; he said the district has tried to contact the vendor, that other haulers will not touch the unit for liability reasons, and that staff are exploring towing or controlled transfer of materials into district-managed dumpsters as a short-term solution.
Next steps: contract documentation from DCIU is expected to be available before the business meeting; staff will continue to pursue removal options for the abandoned dumpster and will report back.
