Schley County commissioners approve agenda, minutes and three board appointments; departments report routine activity

At its July 8 meeting, the Schley County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the meeting agenda and approved minutes from June 10, June 17 (budget meeting), and June 24 (two budget meetings at 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.). Commissioner Barineau made the motions and Vice Chairman Belcher seconded; the board recorded that all were in favor.
The board also approved appointments to county boards: Mike Clements to the Schley County Utility Authority, Kevin Devane to the Board of Health, and Judy McClellan to Middle Flint Behavioral Health; Commissioner Barineau moved the appointments and Commissioner Harrison seconded.
Chief Montgomery reported 55 calls during the reporting period: six to Schley Fire Department and 49 to Schley County EMS, with medical responses comprising most calls and fire responses including two wildland fires and one smoke-in-area report. Water Superintendent Barfield reported water usage of 4,936,700 gallons for the month, 741 meters read, 184,950 gallons sold to Andersonville, and one new water service installed; the road department reported nine new driveways, multiple drainage and wash repairs, pothole patching on Heath Road, Mt. Zion and Bridges Store Road, grading of dirt roads as weather permitted, right-of-way trash pickup and countywide mowing.
County Manager Douglas Jamieson said he will attend EMA training and presented photographs showing a water line struck by lightning to emphasize storm awareness. Jamieson also provided financial figures: SPLOST $225,190.00; General Fund $193,548.52; Reserve $48,416.89; TSPLOS $44,270.37; Water Exp $21,782.40; LMIG $769,572.83.
Commissioner Harrison moved to adjourn at the close of the meeting; Commissioner Barineau seconded and the board voted to adjourn.
