They also described the district’s restorative and educational responses: students who move into higher-level responses may be paired with members of the technology team for guided learning about what happens in a breach, and administrators emphasized due-process procedures in student-level decisions.
Board members asked about case-by-case application, review processes and whether punishments are uniform. Presenters said the BEP spells out response levels and allows some flexibility — for example, a level-3 response may involve an administrative-facilitated restorative response and in-school reflection rather than an immediate out-of-school suspension. Administrators said the item will be returned to the board in two weeks for formal consideration and adoption.
No formal vote occurred on the BEP amendments at this meeting; the board solicited clarifying questions and public input ahead of the next discussion.
