The chief also summarized staffing levels: approximately 48 sworn personnel (around 45 on 24-hour shifts) and a total complement of roughly 50 personnel including civilian positions, representing about a 10% shortfall in firefighting staff. Committee members noted competitive hiring conditions in the region and the department's careful vetting process. Staff said they will continue recruitment and bring updates to future committee meetings.
