Council schedules liquor-license and Comcast franchise ordinances for second reading; adjourns after voice vote

A special-event liquor license was discussed for the Western Illinois Museum’s Al Sears Music Festival, a Sunday event. Staff said the city’s special-event license carries no city fee but that a state license is required; adding Sunday sales to an existing license would cost $500. The council placed the liquor-license item on the agenda for second reading and final action at the next meeting.
The council also discussed an ordinance to approve a cable television franchise agreement with Comcast of Illinois, Indiana and Ohio LLC. That item had a first reading at the prior council meeting and was placed for second reading and final action at the next meeting.
The meeting closed on a motion to adjourn that was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote; the chair declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned.
