Student leaders report fall activities and FFA achievements at Marysville Joint Unified board meeting

Student representatives from multiple Marysville Joint Unified schools gave brief reports to the board on campus life and extracurricular activities.
Isabella Martinez, ASB treasurer at Lindhurst High School, said a welcome rally preceded the first home football game and noted that Lindhurst cheerleaders attended a Varsity and United Spirit Association camp; several cheer members earned All-American recognition and were invited to national parades. She also said Lindhurst FFA added two new agriculture teachers and two new pathways in agricultural leadership and floral design, and that Lindhurst FFA membership is at a record level.
Miguel Silva, ASB president at Marysville Charter Academy of the Arts, described successful back-to-school events including a dance, Senior Sunrise for about 43 senior participants, and a cancelled rally because of sprinkler-system work; he thanked the board for allowing the site to use district space for picture day.
Joseph Emiliano Charles, ASB president at Marysville High School, said discipline has improved, the new lunch system is helping with organization and school spirit is up at athletic events. He also noted Marysville FFA exhibited at the Yuba Sutter Fair and will send members to the National FFA convention on Oct. 14.
Ken Thomas, representing North High, recapped back-to-school night turnout, the new onboarding program for incoming students, Spirit Week, recognition of Suicide Prevention Week and an upcoming Reality Simulation and Yuba College information day for seniors. Board members thanked the student leaders and district staff for their reports.
