CFBISD construction update: 20 campuses slated for summer work; Carolton (replacement) groundbreaking underway

District construction staff updated trustees on progress in the 2023 bond program and upcoming summer work. Chris Moore said seven campuses already have active projects and 13 more will begin this summer, with work continuing into the 2026–27 school year for many projects.
Highlights noted by Moore included the fire‑academy training bays at Creek View High School, library furniture and tech integration at Roseme Elementary, major phased renovations at Blleac Middle School (about halfway complete), the Turner High School library and fly‑loft resurfacing, Smith High School phased renovations, and turf and track installation at Pulk Middle School. Moore said test piles and foundation work were underway for the Carrollton Elementary replacement campus following a groundbreaking.
Trustees asked for start dates, how classroom availability will be managed during renovations and whether projects are tracking to budget. Staff replied construction is scheduled to begin for Farmers Branch Elementary in the weeks after the school year ends, Turner classrooms will be available for students next year even as some construction continues through January 2027, and overall projects are currently tracking within budget under guaranteed‑maximum price contracts, though renovation scopes can reveal unanticipated items (for example, additional plumbing work at Blleac). Administration estimated approximately $1.5–$2 million in savings from using Central Elementary to host Turner students instead of renting additional portables.
