He also said he was supplementing a prior challenge for the title Well, That Was Awkward and criticized content he deemed inappropriate for students.
Freedman praised the district's improved rubric for reviewing materials, called the system "first place" among communities he has seen, but said certain problematic items still "fall through the cracks." He urged the board to consider additional refinements to the rubric and review process.
The board acknowledged the comment; no formal action on the challenges was taken during the meeting. The district's materials review process and any appeals will follow established procedures.
