La Mesa Dale Elementary highlighted: new building, staff awards and student achievements

The board paused its regular agenda to spotlight La Mesa Dale Elementary School. Principal Tammy Babbitt told trustees the campus recently moved into a newly completed building and praised staff, families and partners for supporting student learning.
Babbitt recognized a school social worker, Bethany Young, who was awarded Elementary School Social Worker of the Year for San Diego County; the principal also noted that several students who led the evening’s Pledge of Allegiance have made notable academic and extracurricular achievements. Babbitt described programs on campus — including special education supports, a Community Schools grant that funds wraparound services, and attendance-recovery programs — and thanked the parents and PTA for volunteer efforts such as Multicultural Night and arts instruction.
Board members thanked La Mesa Dale staff and families and noted the measure-funded campus improvements and an upcoming ribbon-cutting when parking work is finished.
The Spotlight segment included a video produced by Ron and Karen Cook; Babbitt encouraged trustees and community members to visit the site and take part in the planned opening celebration.
