The Torrance Unified School District board voted to approve employment contracts for an assistant superintendent of educational services and an assistant superintendent of student services, agreeing to three-year terms from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028, with a stated base salary of $241,959 and applicable stipends for doctorates and BCLAD credentials.
Board president Dr. Muhammad summarized the required oral disclosures under Government Code §54953(c)(3) before the vote, listing the positions, term dates and the base salary. A motion to approve the contracts was made and seconded and carried on a voice vote.
The board then introduced the two appointees. Dr. Rosa Aaya, announced as the new assistant superintendent of educational services, described her prior roles in district leadership and education equity and said she was “deeply honored and grateful to have been selected.” Deanna Sinfield, named assistant superintendent of student services, accepted the position and said the role was “a dream” and expressed commitment to inclusive services for students and families.
Superintendent Dr. Stowe and trustees praised the candidates’ experience. The board did not record a roll-call tally in the public minutes; the meeting record shows the motion carried by voice vote.
The contracts are now part of the district record. The board also welcomed the new appointees in brief remarks and thanked outgoing and interim staff who supported the transition. The hires will become effective July 1, 2025, per the terms read into the record.
