The Edison Township Board of Education opened its May 20 meeting with the district’s annual teacher and staff recognition program, featuring a video tribute and brief remarks from principals and honorees across the district. Superintendent Dr. Aldrai and Board President Jerry Shei led the appreciation; the presentation named and celebrated dozens of teachers and support staff from elementary schools through high schools and early learning centers.
The superintendent highlighted district staff wellness initiatives, including a district‑wide staff walkathon that logged near 39 million steps in one week, and encouraged institutional pride in student and staff successes. Presenters called honorees to the stage by school; families were invited to take photos and cheer their honorees. The program concluded with applause and a short recess before the regular agenda.
The recognition event was strictly ceremonial and preceded the board’s business, which included capital projects, personnel matters and an extended public hearing on policy 5756.
