Lancaster County search committee holds executive session on administrator search, is reconstituted for interviews

Scott Broom moved to enter executive session; Bryant Neil seconded. The committee then left the public meeting for an executive session.
After returning to open session, the clerk stated for the record that "the ad hoc county administrator search committee met in executive session in regards to one item, the discussion of a personnel matters pursuant to South Carolina Code of Laws §30-4-70(a)(1) relative to the search for a county administrator. No motions were made, no votes were taken." That statement was read into the public record and no formal action was reported from the executive session.
The chair then announced that the ad hoc committee would be dissolved and a new committee appointed to conduct interviews. The chair listed the new committee members as council member Jose Luis; Councilwoman Charlene McGriff; Councilman Bryant Neil; the chair themself; Melissa Prince Thornton; Scott Broom; and John McCain. A motion to adjourn was made and seconded; a member clarified the new committee would be responsible for interviews, and the meeting adjourned.
No dates were set publicly during this meeting for interviews or for further public committee action. The clerk's public statement that no motions or votes occurred in executive session remains the committee's official record of the closed discussion.
