County and county-office candidates outline priorities at Emery meeting

Two candidates addressed the Emery Town Council during the public-comment portion of the April 8 meeting.
David Sebring, a candidate for county commissioner, said he would prioritize property‑tax relief, improving EMS response times and stronger collaboration between county and city governments. Sebring said previous county allocations of settlement money have limited flexibility and he wants to explore changes to better support schools and local infrastructure. He also offered to contribute in‑kind donations to town events and to participate in Pioneer Day activities.
Karen Richards, a candidate for Emery County Recorder, described 11 years of county service and prior administrative experience. Richards said separating the recorder and treasurer offices—an administrative change implemented previously—should lead to improved accuracy and customer service in the recorder’s office.
The council thanked both speakers and did not take any immediate action related to the candidacies.
