The St. Landry Parish School Board on May 7 adopted its 2026 tax millage rates for the parish school district and approved a related financial resolution to withdraw funds from the state treasury.
During the meeting the resolution was read in full and the board completed a roll call to adopt the 2026 levy. The rates read into the record included a salary tax of 11.78 mills, a constitutional tax of 4.37 mills and an operations/improvement/maintenance tax of 4.37 mills. The roll call in the transcript records affirmative votes by the members present and the resolution was adopted.
Separately the board approved a resolution to withdraw $141,069 from the state treasury (Education Excellence Fund) to be used under the district's EEF plan. A presenter explained the rationale: the district is taking its interest from the account and investing it locally "to make sure we keep all of our money," and said the additional paperwork was required to obtain the funds.
Both finance actions were adopted in open session. The board certified the resolutions and directed staff to complete the administrative steps needed to effect the withdrawals and update records.
