Commissioners approve July 4 fairgrounds event, road MOA and other routine items

At their March 23 meeting, the Woods County commissioners approved several agenda items in a series of largely uncontested voice votes.

The board approved a request from the Alberta Rotary Club to use the county fairgrounds on July 4 and to allow alcohol sales through local vendor permits; Steve Ford identified himself as the club's president and asked the county to approve the event while noting the event will still require city permits because the fairgrounds lie within city limits.

The commissioners also approved a memorandum of agreement under which the county will assume responsibility to maintain County Road 430 where it lies inside the Alba city limits. A motion to approve the MOA was made and carried.

Separately, the board agreed to provide a letter of support to an emergency-management grant application for Freedom Volunteer Ambulance Service; commissioners noted that the letter simply supports the grant application and does not guarantee award. The board further approved a blanket purchasing authorization during the same session.
