The Broadwater County Commission held a public hearing April 1 and approved a resolution making expenditure and revenue budget amendments for fiscal year 24‑25 to align appropriations with actual revenues and expenditures recorded at year end.
Debbie Kelly, who presented the item, said the resolution is a standard cleanup tied to the county audit. She reviewed statutory authority, citing Montana Code Annotated sections that permit governing bodies to amend budgets by public hearing and require identification of fund reserves or unanticipated revenue to fund appropriations. "It is a requirement as we get our audit done to have a resolution to modify our original appropriations in our budget to what they actually might have been at the end of the year," Kelly said.
Kelly noted the resolution summarizes increases or decreases by fund and attaches detailed nine‑page schedules listing individual line items. Commissioners asked clarifying questions and confirmed the documents were posted online in the meeting materials. After discussion a motion to approve the FY24‑25 expenditure and revenue budget amendments was made and seconded. Commissioners indicated assent by voice vote and the motion passed.
The resolution takes effect for fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, and the accompanying attachments provide the line‑by‑line reallocations and fund adjustments. County staff said the full attachments are available online for public review.
