Committee approves courthouse-lawn use for prayer group with facility cautions

A committee member said the request was made courteously and that the group planned a small daily gathering to pray for a safe school year. Members approved the motion with the understanding that bathrooms may not be available during courthouse construction and asked the organizer to clarify whether the group needs access to restrooms or only the lawn space.
The Chair noted staff would tell requesters up front that bathrooms may be unavailable and that facility access will be arranged only if necessary. The motion to approve the lawn use was made, seconded and passed by voice vote.
