Committee approves retest after Servpro mold remediation at Coffey County Library

Committee members on May 7 were briefed that workers repaired the Manchester branch roof on April 24 and that subsequent heavy rains produced no leaks. Staff scheduled Servpro to perform mold remediation and said the contractor expected to complete remediation in three to four days.
"We've been able to check it a couple times after very significant rain and we had no water, no leaks," a county staff member said. The same staff member recommended, and the committee approved, a motion to have the original third-party testing firm return after remediation to confirm the site is clear.
During discussion a staff member read a segment of the lab report and emphasized that indoor air samples showed relatively low mold spore levels — lower than exterior comparison samples — and that the library is not "completely infested with mold." Committee members approved the motion to retest by voice vote.
Staff said after remediation there will be some minor repairs to shelving and finishes before full turnover of the facility back to library staff.
