Health department facility inches closer to opening, officials say

At the May 7 Capital Outlay Committee meeting the Chair reported that the county health department facility is nearing completion: base asphalt is in place, interior cabinets are installed, countertops are being fitted and the generator has been tested.
"Base asphalt down... The countertops are being installed," the Chair said, describing weekly site coordination between health department personnel and the contractor. The Chair also said the state requested a canopy at the drive-through and staff are gathering contractor quotes for that work.
The Chair estimated the health department could open around July 1, subject to remaining punch-list work and final utility hookups. Committee members agreed staff will continue weekly oversight to resolve remaining exterior panel and phone/camera system issues before turnover.
