Hughes said the study focuses on safety and congestion issues in the study area, including I‑95 ramp approaches at Lady Smith Road, and that the draft project concepts are being presented for public comment before finalizing the study report. He noted project partners include Caroline County and the George Washington Regional Commission and that no construction dates are scheduled at this time. The study team previously gathered community input via an online survey in 2025.
Hughes asked commissioners and residents to attend the meeting to review draft concepts and speak with VDOT staff at stations set up for questions; he said the meeting format is a rolling open-house rather than a single long presentation. No action was taken; the announcement served as an informational notice to the commission and the public.
