The Troy Finance Committee recommended that the city council declare nine vehicles and two pieces of equipment surplus and authorize their sale via the GovDeals online auction.
The presenter explained that state law requires city council authorization to sell surplus property when the estimated value exceeds $1,000. "We do this at least annually," he said, noting the list includes vehicles and equipment that have exceeded useful life and that the city attempts to hand down equipment when feasible.
Committee member Jeffrey Wooden asked where the auction would be hosted; the presenter replied, "GovDeals." Committee members asked no further questions and gave a unanimous recommendation to forward the surplus declaration and sale authorization to council. The committee did not request emergency legislation for this item.
The recommendation to sell the listed items is subject to council approval and the city's established surplus-sale procedures, including the advertised online bidding process.
