Schley County Approves HVAC Work at Courthouse Annex Using Remaining Energy Grant Funds

County Manager Douglas Jamieson told the board that consultant recommendations require projects to demonstrably save energy and that roughly $128,000 remained after completing the recommended measures. Jamieson suggested applying the excess to HVAC work at the annex.
Commissioner Barrineau moved to proceed with HVAC relocation and replacement at the Schley County Courthouse Annex; Commissioner Jones seconded the motion, and all commissioners voted in favor.
Jamieson said the county must ensure any funded measures meet the grant’s energy‑savings requirements before payments are finalized. The board did not adopt specific contractor bids at the meeting; commissioners approved proceeding with the work using the energy grant funds on that condition.
The approval follows the county’s recent completion of an energy audit for the annex and aligns with prior county efforts to reduce facility operating costs.
