After returning from a short executive session at the start of the March 16 meeting, the School Committee announced that the district had met to ratify the collective bargaining agreement with Medford school cafeteria workers represented by SEIU Local 88 and thanked negotiators and staff for their work.
The Chair said the committee “met in executive session to ratify the Medford school cafeteria workers,” and congratulated the negotiators and both sides. Immediately afterward the committee took up the consent agenda — including approval of bills and payrolls, multiple journal entries and donations to Medford High School and Medford Vocational Technical High School parent‑teacher organizations — and approved it by roll call with seven affirmative, zero negative votes.
The chair’s public remarks following the executive session acknowledged the ratification and expressed thanks to negotiators; the executive‑session vote details and negotiated contract terms were not disclosed in the open record beyond the committee’s announcement that ratification had occurred.
