Ida Public Library reports record summer turnout, replaces bookmobile generator

Long said the library’s summer reading kickoff week drew strong crowds: about 380 people attended a reptile expo and more than 400 attended a ‘touch a truck’ event. She thanked the fire and police departments, library board members and community sponsors whose fundraising and book‑sale revenues support programming.
On operational logistics, Long said the library’s bookmobile experienced a generator failure. After searching for replacement or used vehicles she said were either prohibitively expensive or unavailable, the library installed a new generator at a cost of about $16,000, paid from the library’s operating reserve; she expects the generator to extend the bookmobile’s useful life by roughly five years.
Long also previewed upcoming events including a family fire‑safety drill, a bat/animal program, distribution of iPass stickers on July 19, a gentle murder‑mystery program for children on July 5, and participation in Heritage Days with the bookmobile in the parade.
