Growth Dimensions briefs council on potential 50‑job manufacturer and renewable‑energy projects

Pam Fetis of Growth Dimensions presented the council with a roundup of the organization’s business‑attraction activity and early‑stage projects affecting Belvidere and Boone County.

Fetis said Growth Dimensions is working with a plastic injection molding company that is considering a site in the Belvidere/Boone County area; she described this opportunity as an expansion of the company’s Chicago‑area operations and estimated it could bring roughly 50 new jobs if it proceeds. Fetis also said the organization is engaged with three renewable‑energy projects in the county — both single‑site solar fields and multi‑property turbine proposals — and cautioned that some of those projects would require substantial land assemblies and county approvals and could take roughly two years to advance through permitting.

She noted other prospects, including discussions with a medical clinic seeking a Belvidere location and outreach to commercial landowners with multiple potential development sites. Fetis provided pipeline metrics: the organization has over 100 projects in various stages, five projects complete, and reported engagement with about 643 businesses since January. She encouraged council members to consider available incentive programs and noted Growth Dimensions’ upcoming reception on Aug. 28.

During council questions, Fetis reiterated that several renewable projects are outside city limits and would need property owner agreements and county review; she described those projects as long‑lead and uncertain at this stage.
