The Town of Babylon rental board approved multiple rental permits and took procedural actions on renewals during its meeting.
New permit applications for 69 Washington Avenue in Deer Park (applicant Alan Brown) and 90 Salem Street in West Babylon (applicant Andrew Smith) were sworn and approved after applicants confirmed agreement with the notarized conditions filed with their applications. The motions to approve were moved and seconded and approved by voice vote.
For a renewal at 164 Arthur Avenue in West Babylon, board member Patrick Nolan asked the applicant, Joseph Selemmy, to remove debris and said the board would provide photographs of the concerns; the board voted to extend the renewal deadline to May 20 so the applicant can submit photos to the rental office and arrange for a re‑inspection. The board noted that if the issue is resolved sooner the applicant may submit evidence to the office for earlier finalization.
The board also handled 296 Old Farmingdale Road (second‑call). Christine Fay and neighbor Scott Sasso testified; the board moved and approved the matter. The board paused and adjourned the public hearing for 802 Bay View Avenue in Amityville because the sign for that application did not meet placement requirements (sign must be 3 feet off the ground), and the hearing will be re‑noticed as appropriate.
Vice Chair Carla Bryant opened each item and recorded motions and seconders. Several motions recorded the mover as Marie Ayadei and the seconder as Mark Smith for the new permit items; Patrick Nolan and Janina Martinez were recorded as mover/second for the renewal extension. The board approved the routine permit items by voice votes and recorded the continuation/adjournment motions where noted.
No budgetary or policy changes were adopted; these actions were limited to individual permit approvals, a renewal extension and routine procedural items.
