The Navasota City Council on March 9 ratified a signed agreement to include a drone show in the city’s July 4 Freedom Festival after staff said corporate sponsors covered the full $45,000 cost.
"The total would have been $45,000, but it's costing us zero in taxpayer money using 100% corporate sponsorships," Mr. Henry told the council, noting the contract was signed before the council meeting because the vendor required a time-sensitive commitment. He asked council to ratify the city manager’s execution of the agreement.
Councilmember Mr. Gman moved to ratify the agreement; the motion received a second and carried on a voice vote with no oppositions recorded.
The city said the drone show will complement contracted fireworks and concerts planned for the evening. Staff and event organizers will provide final event and safety details when entertainment arrangements are complete.
