Local youth fundraiser donates $15,000 toward new L7 nature park

Oliver Pratt presented a $15,000 check to the City of Encinitas on behalf of community donors to support the new L7 (Quail Gardens) neighborhood nature park. Mayor Eilers and other council members thanked Pratt and his supporters at the start of the meeting, and the council and staff posed for a group photograph after the presentation.
"I'm really proud of what we will be able to accomplish together to bring Quail Gardens Park to life," Oliver Pratt said, presenting the funds and thanking family, customers and neighbors. His sister, Eleanor Pratt, and a friend, Cameron Carroll, also spoke briefly to express excitement about playing and helping design the park.
The city manager announced a community workshop to begin park design: the first L7 Neighborhood Park community workshop is scheduled for Thursday, March 26 at 6 p.m. at the Encinitas Community Center. City staff encouraged broad community participation and mentioned possible fundraising ideas such as brick purchases to involve more residents in construction and upkeep.
The presentation was ceremonial and did not require Council action. Council members commended Pratt’s fundraising and encouraged continued community engagement during the design and implementation phase.
The next public step is the March 26 community workshop, after which staff will continue outreach and begin preliminary design work and budget scoping.
