Staff told the committee the YMCA summer camp at the Albert J. Boro Community Center will run Monday–Friday June 2–July 24, 2026 (closed July 4) and that a full waiver would be valued at $24,832 based on resident nonprofit rental rates. Janet Tanchchez moved the YMCA item and Darlin Ruiz seconded; members present—Ellen Arbett, Sergio Campos, Darlin Ruiz and Tanchchez—voted yes.
The committee also approved a 100% waiver for Canal FC’s spring 2026 season to use the Pickleweed Park soccer fields (Tues/Thurs/Sun; Fridays later removed from the request). Staff estimated that waiver at roughly $6,340 and noted that co‑sponsorship groups must carry insurance and sign permits. A 100% waiver for Toros Convos’ weekly Saturday music and arts program at the Albert J. Boro Community Center was approved as well; staff valued that waiver at $13,824.
Taken together, the three approved waivers represent roughly $44,996 against the committee’s stated 2026 cap of $168,000 for fee waivers. Committee members discussed tracking how many participants receive scholarships or waived fees and the potential for lost revenue if high‑demand groups occupy space long term. Committee staff noted that waivers do not create direct budget expenditures but can reduce available facility revenue and that staff will continue to monitor cumulative impacts.
The committee’s approved motions were recorded as unanimous among members present; the three items and other new applications will be reflected in staff reports when the items move to the June meeting for any additional approvals.
