Council approves Rindell Park public art; alder presses for student involvement

The Common Council unanimously approved Legistar 92212 to contract with artist Nate Page to design, fabricate and install a site-specific public art feature for the Imagination Center at Rindell Park (1818 Portage Road).
Alder Madison pressed staff and the artist to ensure student participation and intentional outreach to children who will use the Imagination Center. Arts administrator Karen Wolf said the artist had proposed school outreach and that staff will coordinate with alder members to structure those efforts. "He's very interested in working with the students," Wolf said.
Alders described recent visits to local schools and staff-led activities to solicit child input on the project; several councilmembers thanked staff and neighborhood participants for facilitating school engagement. The item passed with a unanimous recorded vote.
The contract authorizes design-phase work and outreach; the artist is expected to follow the outreach steps described in the proposal during the design process.
