County staff said three employees will attend a grantee orientation in Alexandria, Virginia, April 26–May 1; estimated travel costs total $7,350 and will be paid from non-general funds. "This is part one of a three-part process to increase our 911 infrastructure for a true hot failover backup system," Connor, a 911 presenter, told commissioners when describing an approximately $180,000 wireless 911 fund expenditure.
Contracts approved included:
- Renewal for lawn care services with Cross Brothers Landscaping, $3,970.90 (non-general). - Purchase and delivery of concrete materials with TC Ready Mix, approximately $47,500 (non-general). - Lead-hazard control agreements with Foundations for the Future LLC ($25,636 at 28 Walnut; $13,853 at 4130 Southern Boulevard), Howland Company (~$11,300 for work at 324 East Lle), ALJ Construction (~$11,315) and Cunningham Construction LLC (~$7,295). - Generator services agreements with Professional Engine Systems and Generator Specialists, each estimated at $10,000 (non-general). - Emergency sewer repair agreement with Utility Contracting, $4,000 (non-general). - A cooperative, two-year law-enforcement-services agreement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for Berlin Lake, payable to Mahoning County for $97,593.60.
Engineers presented a low bid award for OPWC sales-tax road and bridge safety upgrades (Lindy paving) for $792,462.51 (non-general low bid) and a CDBG FY24 sidewalk improvement contract for approximately $90,380.44; commissioners approved both awards by roll call. Commissioners also approved several change orders, appointments to the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund Regional Prevention Council (reappointment of Melissa Lighten; new appointment Nikita Griffy) and the appointment of Bob Holton to a regional collaborative seat.
All motioned items on the agenda – minutes, journal entries, agreements A–L, change orders A and B, resolutions A–H and awards – were approved by roll call with recorded affirmative votes from the commissioners present.
