Council members presented and agreed to a slate of events for Mental Health Awareness Month and Suicide Prevention Month that will include partnerships with neighboring towns, vertical banners, a banner across Springfield Avenue, a Centennial Park kickoff, a volunteer 'paint the town green' campaign and outreach through schools and businesses.
Councilman Gardner described the events as building on last year’s regional collaboration and noted plans to coordinate banners, green ribbons and volunteer teams. The effort will use volunteers, business participation and materials provided by groups such as the Rotary Club. Council members said they will also work on suicide-prevention messaging and related signage.
Officials asked residents to stay tuned for event details and called for volunteers to help implement the activities across New Providence and partner municipalities.
