Wildwood Crest council advances five ordinances to Feb. 4 public hearing

At a regular meeting, the Borough of Wildwood Crest governing body approved first readings on five ordinances and set a combined public hearing and second reading for Feb. 4, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
Mayor Don Cabar read each ordinance aloud and called for motions. Ordinance 1473 would amend chapter 56 of the municipal code governing the Recreation Commission and appointments. Ordinance 1474 would establish a formal contract-negotiating committee under chapter 46. Ordinance 1475 would clarify the scope of a prior ordinance (1462) by repealing sections 48-12 through 48-12.4 in the peace and good order chapter. Ordinance 1476 would prohibit operation of motor vehicles on flooded roadways that create waves or wakes that may damage public or private property. Ordinance 1477 would amend the affordable housing overlay (chapter 85, article 23) to increase the affordable-housing set-aside.
Each ordinance was moved, seconded and carried on a roll-call vote recorded as yes by Mrs. Fussellaro, Commissioner Joe Franco and Mayor Don Cabar. No discussion or public testimony occurred on the ordinances during this meeting. Final action, including any amendments or public comment, will occur at the Feb. 4, 2026 hearing.
The ordinances as introduced specify the date and time for final consideration, providing residents an opportunity to review the proposed changes and comment on the record at the scheduled public hearing.
