Waldwick unveils $560,000 road-resurfacing proposal centered on Hudson Avenue

Council members debated whether to include Malcolm and Duncan streets in this year’s program, noting the cash-strapped context described earlier in the finance presentation. One council member suggested delaying those two streets to conserve surplus, while others favored completing Hudson Avenue and adjacent cross streets to maximize the value of grants and the cooperative paving contract.
A resident asked whether the net $560,000 number already reflected prior-year balances and grants; staff confirmed the figure reflects credits from previously allocated capital funds and the DOT grants.
Tatiana said the county is also slated to perform paving on main roads in town in 2026 and 2027, which the borough expects will produce additional resurfacing work across multiple streets this year.
The council did not take a final vote on a capital appropriation at this meeting; the program and prioritization will be revisited as the budget process continues.
