The Absecon City Council removed Resolution 175 (the proposed sale of a city‑owned lot) from the consent agenda on Oct. 2 to set a minimum auction bid and vote on it separately.
City staff said they did not have a minimum bid entered on the resolution and reported an assessed value of about $242,500 for block 29.01, lot 2, based on an online check. Council members agreed to insert a $250,000 starting minimum bid and then voted to move the resolution so the lot can proceed to auction.
A council member explained that inserting the minimum bid was required before the city could motion, second and resolve to send the lot to auction; the council approved the insertion and moved the resolution by roll call.
Next steps: staff will publish the resolution and proceed with the auction process after completing any required notices, and the city will notify interested parties according to standard auction procedures.
