Garfield honors three police promotions; mayor and chief praise local recruits

Deputy Chief Ron Bohannan, who addressed the chamber after his swearing-in, reflected on his career and pledged leadership “with honesty, integrity, compassion, and pride,” and thanked mentors, family and colleagues for their support. Mayor Garnto and multiple council members offered congratulatory remarks highlighting the officers’ local roots and service.
The ceremony included remarks from family members and retired officers. The mayor recessed briefly so attendees could take photographs and the council moved on to its regular agenda.
The promotions took place as part of the city’s broader personnel activity; council members noted the administration has promoted several officers and hired recruits in recent months.
